Bank Scales Up in Minutes to Offer More Digital Services Faster
With the aim of promoting financial inclusion in Pakistan, Telenor Microfinance Bank launched its mobile wallet Easypaisa to simplify digital payments over cash. However, its IT infrastructure was not efficient for the small-ticket transactions on the application. VMware and systems integrator Premier Systems supported the bank’s deployment of VMware vSphere with Tanzu, enabling the bank to scale up quickly by spinning up containers in minutes instead of a few days. This helped the bank to optimize the use of compute resources, and reduce compute and memory by 15 percent , which could be repurposed for other projects. The scalability and flexibility led to faster time to market as the bank ramps up new digital financial services.
